Outside Access — Source library
Public documentation snapshot: 2026-09-08
How do I get started?
The Android companion is free and can open your sponsor account on the Outside Access website. Your Outside Access account is separate from Securus. Sign in, confirm the resident and facility, and assign credits before using the authorized messaging workflow. The companion does not sign in to Securus or read resident messages on your phone.
Does a green status mean my message arrived?
A green service status confirms only that the website and database report availability. It does not prove that a resident is approved or a message was delivered. Check the request and delivery record. If the connection fails, reconnect and refresh; the bundled Android guides remain available offline.
How do I sign in or recover account access?
Open the sponsor account on https://outsideaccess.autosecurelogin.com and follow the website sign-in steps. Keep your password, one-time codes and Securus PIN private. If access fails, use the Support page with your account email and a brief description. Support can arrange identity verification. Closing the Android app does not sign you out of a separate browser session.
How do I add or archive a resident?
In your sponsor account, enter the resident's exact legal name, correctional ID, facility and state, then review the confirmation. Facility availability and contact approval still apply. Archiving stops new processing and returns unspent assigned credits to the sponsor's unassigned balance. Archiving does not erase billing or delivery records.
Do credits expire or renew automatically?
Outside Access credits are one-time purchases that do not expire. They are not a recurring subscription. Review the current pack and price before paying, then check the intended resident's allocation. Work and delivery can have separate costs. Failed work releases its reserved credits. For an unexpected checkout or charge, keep the reference and contact Support instead of paying repeatedly.
Where can I check the credit ledger?
The sponsor website shows your balance and resident allocations. The ledger records purchases, reservations, charges and adjustments. A resident's remaining assigned balance is different from the sponsor's total balance and from Securus stamps. A ledger request follows the service's disclosed request and delivery charges. Report an unexpected entry to Support with its reference.
How should a resident write a request?
Send one clear task through the authorized resident conversation, including the relevant topic, date, location, public URL or document format. A resident can request HELP to receive the welcome guide again. English and Spanish requests are supported. Clarification, review or insufficient credits can hold a request; a held request is not a delivery receipt.
How do Colorado policy questions get answered?
Give a focused public-information question with the jurisdiction, date and document or rule identifier when known. Colorado policy research may use the shared Policy Lens search. Check citations and original documents before relying on important claims. Missing evidence is not a definitive finding. Use Policy Lens directly for public-law research; this Help Center explains Outside Access.
Can I request a letter or a document?
Describe the document's purpose, audience, facts and preferred format. Supported formats may include PDF, DOCX, TXT, HTML or JPEG depending on the delivery channel. Review names, dates and quotations. A generated draft is not automatically filed, submitted, signed or sent to a third party. Delivery is a separate step.
How do image creation and photo editing work?
For a new image, describe the subject, style, colors and exact words. Delivered images are numbered. To request an edit through the authorized resident conversation, identify the image number and describe the changes; an image reference alone does not prove delivery. Editing still requires the service's media and provider checks. Image work and delivery can have separate costs. Review generated images for errors, including misspelled text.
How do I request a website screenshot?
Include the exact public HTTPS page URL and a clear purpose. A screenshot shows the page at capture time, not a certified or permanently current record. A login, access restriction or unavailable page can prevent capture. Check the screenshot and delivery costs and keep the request reference if a correction is needed.
What happens to a special request?
Explain what you need and why the usual request types do not cover it. A special request goes to human review. Acknowledgment or a review charge does not guarantee acceptance, completion or delivery. Keep the reference and wait for the reviewer's response or clarification request.
What should I do if delivery is uncertain?
Delivery depends on the correct resident, approved contact, facility rules, provider availability and sufficient resources. Text and attachments may consume separate stamps and Outside Access credits. If a send may have succeeded, report it once to Support with its reference and whether a stamp appears charged. Wait for reconciliation before requesting a repeat, to avoid duplicate delivery or charges.
Can someone receive email or text messages?
External email and SMS require a verified destination and the recipient's consent. Including an address or number is not permission to send. Clarify ambiguous recipients. SMS messages identify the resident and this service and are one-way: the sending number is not monitored for conversational replies. Recipients can reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help; message and data rates may apply. Do not bypass an opt-out with another account or destination. Current signup offers a separate SMS opt-in choice.
Are downloaded files encrypted automatically?
A downloaded PDF, image, DOCX, HTML or TXT file is not automatically encrypted by Outside Access. Store and share it appropriately. The Android companion does not maintain a resident-document vault. Deleting a download or uninstalling the app does not remove copies already held by recipients or service providers. For a file that will not open, give Support its reference, type and error.
Can Outside Access give professional advice or bypass a login?
Outside Access supports public research, drafting and authorized delivery. It is not emergency assistance, legal representation or medical care, and cannot guarantee that an institution accepts a document. It does not bypass private accounts, paywalls, CAPTCHA, MFA or facility restrictions. Use the appropriate professional or official service for an individual decision.
Is help available in Spanish and with a screen reader?
Choose English or Español in the Android app to change its screens and complete offline help. Links to the website carry that choice. The website and online help also offer both languages. Use Android larger-text settings and a screen reader as needed. A resident’s saved language preference is separate: review it in the sponsor account. Switching the app or browser language does not translate an already downloaded file or automatically change a resident’s preference.
How do I request account deletion or a data copy?
Use the public Account deletion and data requests page or contact Support from your account email. Request deletion, a copy or a correction without sending a password. Support verifies identity and explains any billing, security, legal or delivery records that must be retained. Uninstalling the Android companion does not close your website account or remove third-party copies.
What information should I put in a help question?
Keep public help questions general. Do not enter names, correctional IDs, private message contents, passwords, codes or card numbers. The online help assistant sends your question to the shared ASL Help Engine to find published guidance; it cannot look up your account or delivery. Its help audit omits raw questions and answers. Use Support for account-specific review and the full Privacy policy for service-wide data practices.
Where can I read the terms?
Open the full Terms of use for account requirements, authorized use, credits, delivery and retention. This short help explanation does not replace those terms. Generated research or a draft does not authorize a filing, payment or message to another person. Outside Access is independent of Securus and is not endorsed by Securus Technologies.
